| Interests: | My research interests involve both clinical and basic science investigation. As a member of the Wills Eye Hospital Retina Service, I am an investigator or co-investigator in several national clinical trials involving the treatment and prophylaxis of age-related macular degeneration. These involve novel laser therapies, pharmacologic agents and combination therapics. As director of the Retina Service established Eye Research Institute, local, national and international collaboration with a multitude of basic and clinical researchers has been established. Supproted research includes studies of angiogenesis, genetics and age-related macular degeneration. I am personally involved in investigation of a vascular growth factorand its potential role in retinal and choroidal neovascular disease. I am directing development of a wen based research platform and data base to encourage cooperation and sharing of clinical data among large groups of retina physicians for project development using handheald computer technology. |
